Antonio Theo Pini
Antonio Theo Pini was born in 1984 and holds a Bachelor’s Degree at the Carrara Academy of Fine Arts in 2011, specialized in Photography and Visual Arts at the Bauer Cfp in Milan.
In 2011 he collaborated with the “Sea and Soda” project with Newspaper Terra.
In 2012 he traveled to Syria during the civil war at Tall Rifat in northern Syria.
He exhibited his work in 2014 at the Fondazione Stelline in Milan Live Flight Rai Tv and in 2015, 2016, 2017, TU35 at the Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci.
The sphere of action within which the interest of Antonio Theo Pini is born and grows, is the photograph by which he investigates the urban and extra-urban territory (Live Flights, 2012) and wonders the moods but also the relationship between public and private, between natural and artificial (Sea & Soda, 2011) where surfaces often become codes of communication and at the same time value of identity.
He is currently working on a long-term project entitled (America, 2018) launched in March 2017/2018 and divided into 3 different parts.
From Bamako, the capital of Mali, and crossing the Sahara desert to Shebha in central-southern Libya. Here they decided to stop the trip with the intention of saving photographic equipment and all the work done up to that point. Timbuktu, Kidal, Gao, Agadez, El Gatrun are just some of the cities encountered along the way.
The second part of the trip involves the crossing of the Libyan territory from Shebha to Tripoli from where illegal embarkation departs for Italy; the third and last part, is the crossing of the sea section that leads migrants from Tripoli to the southern coasts of Sicily.
Pini is a one indipendent photographer, is part and friend of Platnum.co of Susanne Bransch New York.
Theo is a contract professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna in 2017/2018
